Decided to do a detailed information regarding braces to avoid repeated questions again.

Metal braces

Another newest type of visible braces, Damon braces

(the braces that i'm currently having)

Initially i opted for ceramic braces..

but my ortho told me that it will cause some discomforts as the brackets is very rough.

Plus the treatment takes the slowest..

And because i wanted the whole treatment to be fast and also looking less visible with braces. My ortho recommended me the Damon braces.

It's a new type of braces that's much more comfortable and works as good or even better than the metal braces in terms on the speed of the treatment.

There are also advantage and disadvantages for damon braces..

Advantages	Disadvantages
The brackets are smaller and therefore less visible. With no ligatures, there is less chance of impaction during eating. They work faster with fewer adjustments and appointments and yet produce good results.	More costly than conventional metal braces

The overall of it is really nice compared to metal braces..

Btw, those who didn't know.. i have to extract 4 of my tooth as they are overcrowded.

The process of extraction was really fast. Took about 15 minutes only? And frankly speaking, i was SUPER SCARE before going for extractions as i heard lots of painful reviews. But after experience it personally, it wasn't as bad as i thought.

I extracted 4 tooth at 1 go with 10 injections.

The jab wasn't painful.

(probably because i'm not afraid of injections.)

but trust me, it isn't as bad unless it's wisdom tooth? have not tried plucking off my wisdom tooth yet though.

Anyway~ didn't felt it's painful but the whole of your mouth will feel painless kind of swollen after the effect of the numbness is gone.

The bonding of braces was pretty fast too. About half an hour and TA-DA!!

your teeth is lock for approx. the next 2 years.

If you have doubts which ortho will be more comfortable for you, it's better to visit a clinic just for consultation first. Most clinics practice this and you can decide whether you wanna go ahead with them later =)

As for the charges...

the clinic i went charges me for,

Damon braces + extractions + retainer + consultation = 6k

But of course, is by installment =D

1st follow-up have to pay 2k for (braces + extractions), 2nd follow-up another $500,

then after is $107 each follow-up.

Been doing quite a number of research before settling down on an ortho.. my expectations are quite high hence i always research/look for the best or the most recommended first before going ahead with something. Went to 2 different clinics for consultation.

Finally, settled down with Dr Ivan Lim over at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
